Sensei Tony Denham

Tony has been practicing Shotokan Karate for over 45 years, having regularly trained under Sensei Enoeda at Marshall Street, and alongside the great karate practitioners from the UK for the entire time. He took over the running of Portsmouth Karate Club in 1980, and it has gone from strength to strength ever since, never looking back, and always improving.

Since starting Shotokan Karate in 1974, Sensei Denham has trained and taught Shotokan all over the world. He has participated in many competitions around the UK and around Europe, having fought many of the best Karateka the UK has had to offer during his fighting days of the 1980's, 90's and 00's.

More so than most karate instructors, and certainly as much, if not more, than any other karate instructor from Bournemouth to Brighton, Tony and Portsmouth Karate Club focuses on karate that is practical and effective, in order to properly equip his students, should one of them be unfortunate to get into a tight situation.
